In the late 1970s, King Khaled, may God have mercy on him, and his council ministers proposed the idea of ​​establishing a private ophthalmology center that would serve the entire Middle East region. In August 1979, a royal order was issued to build King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital, which rose to be classified among the best hospitals in the world. The government donated a land area of ​​2.5 km² on the northwestern border of the city of Riyadh to implement the project.
