Medical training
When King Khalid, may God have mercy on him, noticed the difficulties that Saudi citizens were facing while traveling abroad to receive medical and surgical treatment for eye diseases, he, may God have mercy on him, realized his country's need for an integrated medical center for treatment and research specializing in ophthalmology.
In the late seventies, King Khaled, may God have mercy on him, and his council ministers proposed the idea of establishing a special ophthalmology center that would serve the entire Middle East region, and in August 1979, a royal order was issued to build King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital, which rose to be classified among the best hospitals in the world. The government donated a land area of 2.5 km² on the northwestern border of the city of Riyadh to implement the project.
